Scenic Railways
If you don't want
to drive from Saranac Lake to Lake Placid (or vice-versa), take a train!
This scenic railroad ride shows you the forests and lakes between the
two towns, as well as Scarface Mountain. Learn more about the railroad
here.
Lake
Placid Center for the Arts
Lake Placid is a haven for the fine arts. Come get acquainted
with area artists and actors, see a show, and browse the artwork.
Olympic
Regional Development Authority
Visit the ORDA site to learn about sporting events in
the area such as Can/Am Hockey, luge, figure skating shows and bobsledding.
Pendragon
Theatre
The Lake Side Motel is only a few hundred feet from the Pendragon Theatre,
"the Adirondacks' only year-round professional theatre" and
a center for high-caliber dramatic productions in the Saranac Lake area.
Robert
Louis Stevenson Memorial Cottage
This cottage, where Stevenson lived for several years,
is preserved in its original state, with various mementos from Stevenson's
life on display to the public. (Open July 1 through September 15
only, closed Mondays. Hours are 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.)

Whiteface
Mountain
Providing a splendid view of both the town of Lake Placid
and the Lake itself, as well as Mirror Lake and several counties, Whiteface
Mountain is a must-see if you've never been to the Tri-Lakes area. At
only about a 25-minute drive from our motel, it's well worth the short
trip, and you can shop in Lake Placid along the way.
Winter
Carnival
Winter Carnival is one of the highlights of the winter
season here in Saranac Lake, and draws visitors from all over the area.

The Ice
Castle, seen here, is the centerpiece of the festivities surrounding
Saranac Lake's yearly Winter Carnival. Lake Side is only steps
from the Carnival and the park where it is held.
